Bodynomics: Ground Up Part One

It’s quarantine time and although the economy is slowly opening the risks of Covid-19 spreading are pretty high. Latest reports have also confirmed that the disease is not seasonal. According to global statistics from the World Health Organisation, South Africa continues to rank as the 5th most affected country in the world.

The lockdown has led to gyms closing their doors to customers. Paradoxically part of keeping healthy to avoid serious affects of the virus is to be active. This has made people look for alternative ways to keep in shape.

The pandemic’s toll on the body and the mind can be measured through increased stress levels which release high levels or cortisol in the body. Long term presence of cortisol leads to high levels of inflammation and cellular damage – making it that much more important to exercise and keep your mind an body fit to fight off infections.

This series of Bodynomics will concentrate on how you can build your body from the ground up – rethinking about the way you see yourself and how your body functions. This will help you make more responsible choices when it comes to exercise and diet, because your choices will be driven by empowering knowledge rather than guilt tripping or an attempt to use sheer will power to reach your goals. We’ll be working with experts in the industry who will help you understand more keenly how your body works and how best to keep it happy.
